LEAGUE RULES

 SEASON 2003/2004

NB. The committee would like to remind teams that this is intended to be a friendly League. Winning, consistently with cricket scores might be interpreted as not being too friendly and team managers should examine their team selections. Maybe Alan Shearer should he playing in a League more suited to his talents or at least with one foot tied behind his back.

Any new team wishing to join may be required to play a couple of friendlies to check that their players are old and decrepit enough.

1. The games are to be played on a friendly basis - in the true Corinthian spirit. To ensure the games are kept friendly;

• The league will take the form of a ladder.

• The ladder is to be conducted as in '4'.

• These rules are liable to change with the weather.

2. Teams should be comprised of approximately 11 players and the majority should;

• Not be playing regular 'pucker' league football.

• Be approaching or passed their sell-by dates.

• Be good sports.

3. The normal rules apply;

• off-sides by mutual consent or who shouts the loudest.

• Refs./Lines men luxury option.

• Team sizes variable depending on how many turn up.

• No dodgey tackles we don't want any-one ending up at the General because of the football.

• Ideally, before kick-off both sides should agree to a time keeper and the half and full time whistles. Also, both should agree and be happy with each side's make-up and the venue.

• in the event of a side not turning up to a prearranged match the points may be claimed by the team showing up.

4. The committee (Mal Barton) will compile league table.

• Team positions will be determined by the committee.

• The committee reserve the right to expel or deduct points from any team for;

a. Taking the game too seriously. b. For fielding an under age team. c. For unsporting conduct. d For too much rough stuff. e. For any other whim of the committee - as demonstrated by the League proper. NB. As no-one gets cautioned or sent off, professional fouls are frowned upon, i.e. crunching tackles, hand balls on the goal line, getting nasty especially if you're 6 - 0 up, etc.

· Point's average will be awarded, when teams have played 10 qualifying games.

5. Teams proving to be in a superior class will find themselves automatically promoted by virtue of the fact that no-one will play them anymore.

6. For the first time, entry into the Dads League is FREE, but no medals will be awarded and the winning teams are requested to get their names inscribed onto the trophy.

7. The league season is until Easter-ish, when the top four teams will qualify to play-off for the League Trophy.

• Refs. should be used for the finals.

• lst position plays 4th position.

• 2nd position plays 3rd position.

• Winners play for the Trophy.

• Games to be arranged by the teams - by mutual consent.

• PLEASE check with opposition the week before the match to make sure they haven't forgotten.

The 2003/4 SPRINGHILL DADS INVITATION CUP will be played in a regular knock out format to be drawn sometime at the beginning of the season.

The Christmas Pud 6-A-Side Cup will take place on Saturday December 27th, kick-off 13:30 at the Sports Centre.
